Handcrafted, wheelthrown Pottery & Handmade Stained Glass

At EarthenArts we believe that Quality of Life is not about a few big events, but about the grace notes of daily living. That Art through Craft can be brought further into life than a background space of wall or mantel. Objects that interact with life’s activities, are functional as well as beautiful, that connect user to creator as only individually handcrafted items are able to do.

As such, all EarthenArts pottery is functional. It is fully dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. The glazes are food safe. It’s designed to be used, not just admired. Each piece is individually handmade, just as nature. Rather than fade into the background, the daily use of a finely crafted, distinctly decorated colander or serving dish will bring quality to everyday moments. Hands that hold a wheelthrown mug or bowl will echo the actual hands of the artist as it was turned on the wheel.

EarthenArts Stained Glass brings constant change as it translates nature’s light into your interior space. Unlike paint, Stained Glass does not just reflect light, it breathes color into it as light passes through. Not just day to day, but throughout the day, a Stained Glass window or panel will change it’s look as the day’s light changes. EarthenArts takes care to ensure that each piece will offer beauty during all phases of the day, and into the reflective light of evening illumination.

While contemporary, EarthenArts draws its spiritual inspiration from the Art’s and Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th century. A sentiment best described by the The Encyclopedia of Arts and Crafts:

They feared that mid-nineteenth century design had gone astray so they condemned the shoddy workmanship, indiscriminate use of materials, inefficient forms and elaborate ornamentation of most mid-Victorian manufactured products. Supporters believed that such products had a deleterious effect upon society. They hoped to improve the quality of design and thus strengthen the character of the individual and society as a whole. To achieve this goal, they strove to ensure that traditional methods of craftsmanship would survive, despite machine production…
